Unforgettable: Review

By  |

‘Unforgettable’ came out on April 21 and with all of the hype of ‘The Fate of the Furious’ it was forgettable in the box offices. However, the movie is somewhat worth seeing considering it’s all-star cast and production.

Tess Connover, played by Katherine Heigl, is trying her best to keep her head above the water as she copes with the end of her marriage to David Connover. Subsequently, she finds out that her husband is now happily engaged to a new and beautiful woman, Julia Banks. Tess digs up the dirt of Julia’s troubled past, and seeks the revenge she thinks she deserves. Julia claims that her soon-to-be husband is the “man of her dreams” and can support her to move on from her past.

The plot of two women fighting over a Ken barbie doll in ‘Unforgettable,’ is extremely outdated and overdone, yet the acting and production of the film were A+. Katherine Heigl, known for her sappy role in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ as Izzy and other miscellaneous roles in rom-coms, had the most shocking performance. Both hilarious and terrifying, she is a scorned divorcee and truly shows her command on the screen in this film.

Katherine Heigl was definitely the shining star in this film and reason enough to go out and see this movie, but the full cast and crew further shaped this movie into a successful one. Directed by Denise Di Novi (who produced ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ and ‘Crazy Stupid Love’), ‘Unforgettable’ also starred Rosario Dawson, who played Julia Banks. Geoff Stults played David Connover.

Even though this film seems like there would be a lot of anticipation because of the blood, sweat and tears, it was surprisingly anti-climatic. For the majority of the movie, you know exactly what is going to happen next. Therefore, I wouldn’t call this film a “must-see,” however, the cast and production of the film make it relatively successful.
