“Eat, Pray, Love” hits theaters Friday

Everyone experiences it—that moment in life when it’s necessary (and understandably horrifying) to reevaluate, well, absolutely everything. This is the position Liz Gilbert finds herself in as her perfect life slowly disintegrates before her eyes. In Ryan Murphy and Jennifer Salt’s onscreen adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s best-selling memoir, “Eat, Pray, Love”, Julia Roberts plays Liz, a woman who believed in domestic bliss and happily ever after—that is, until she had the husband, the career, the house, and a mess of confusion and sadness.

After a painful and emotionally scarring divorce, Liz sets off to find her destiny, stepping outside of her comfort zone and embarking on a journey around the world—a journey that begins as an escape and gradually transforms into a quest to find herself and true fulfillment. In Italy, her first stop, Liz learns the art of loving herself, her body, and of course, good food. As she works her way through virtually every ristorante, trattoria, cantina, and cucina in Italy, Liz unwittingly learns to stand on her own two feet—and discovers new friends, a new life, and an old inner strength that she didn’t know she had. The trip continues through India, where Liz learns the power of prayer and spirituality in a Hindu ashram, and Bali, where she suddenly and unexpectedly stumbles upon the meaning of true love.

In an uplifting tale of devastation, loss, self-discovery, and inner peace, “Eat, Pray, Love” is the ultimate feel-good tear-jerker with a slight dash of comedy thrown in for good measure. Starring rom-com queen Julia Roberts and an all-star cast including the likes of James Franco and Javier Bardem, “Eat, Pray, Love” is sure to please and inspire. The film comes to theaters everywhere this Friday, August 13th.
