Martin Luther King Celebrated Monday in Balboa Park!
Monday’s celebration of the King will begin at 11am and end at 7pm at the WorldBeat Center (2100 Park Blvd) in Balboa Park. The event will take place both indoors and outdoors and feature bands like: Army from VI, Danny I, Shoreline Rootz (a local group from Encinitas), Levi Wize, Bredren, Piracy and Southbay Wailers!
Enjoy Gospel, Reggae and Jazz music on two stages, join in a African Dance and Drumming Workshop, see the Capoeira demonstrations and view a film depicting Dr. King’s life and struggle of the Civil Rights Movement per The San Diego Union Tribune.

Held on the third Monday of January, Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday that observes and honors Martin Luther King Jr., an influential American civil rights leader for his fight to end racial segregation on public transportation and bring equality in the United States.
