Staff: The Temecula Creek Inn Golf Course staff was fantastic. There was always someone to answer my questions and the marshals were sure to let me know about the course condition, flag location and weather. The wait staff was also very courteous and friendly.
Amenities: The Temecula Creek Inn Golf Course has a gigantic putting green right in front of the clubhouse. There is also a chipping area and a driving range. There is a snack bar with a comfortable dining area adjacent to the clubhouse that sells food, drinks, cocktails and beer. I recommend the Southwestern Hot Dog. If you’re looking to sit down and eat a full meal then head to the top of the clubhouse where you will find the Temet Grill. This gourmet restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner while you enjoy stunning views of the golf course and the surrounding hills of Temecula.
The Temecula Creek Inn Golf Course also offers a golf school with very affordable pricing. The golf school utilizes the latest in digital video motion analysis to help you systematically improve your precision and consistency.
The Temecula Creek Inn also offers a number of attractive vacation packages that include unlimited golf, accommodations at the hotel, massage treatments and wine tasting.
Another testament to the beauty of the Temecula Creek Inn Golf Course is that it is a popular place for weddings. Temecula Creek Inn offers a variety of venues ideal for weddings, including the 150 year-old Stone House, Temet on the Greens and the Creekside Guest House.
Course Condition: The Temecula Creek Inn Golf Course has three 9-hole courses. All three courses were in top shape. The greens were true and lightning quick. When I was there I played the Oaks course and the Stonehouse course. I also got to go take a look at some of the greens on the Creek course.
The fairways at Temecula Creek were green and lush. There were very few places where I found any dry patches. The fairways are lined with gorgeous California chaparral, eucalyptus, pine and elm trees.
Tips/Advice: I’ll be offering some tips and advice on the Stonehouse and Oaks courses only. All I can tell you about the Creek course is what the marshal told me. Of the three courses it is by far the most traditional with long fairways running close to each other.
Stonehouse Course — I normally shoot in the mid to upper 80’s and this was the more difficult of the two courses I played. Drastic elevation changes and an unforgiving landscape create situations where precise golf shots are necessary.
There is very little reward for risk-taking unless you are certain you have the skill. Playing it safe is the best bet here. This course is masterfully blended with the environment and almost felt like the fairways and greens had been laid over the hills and valleys like a carpet. On several holes you have to hit a blind tee shot over a hill. Hole 6 is one such hole:
The course is called Stonehouse for good reason. Just after the 7th hole you will find a little turnout off the cart path and a bridge leading across a creek to a stone house. The house is lovely and is available for weddings.
Oaks Course — The Oaks Course does not offer you very many straight fairways. There are some very challenging and fun dog-legs on this course. But unlike the Stonehouse course many golfers will be able to reap some rewards for taking the risk to cut the corners. But that’s where you advantage disappears. There are some deep bunkers waiting for you once you get a view of the greens.
On hole 4, heavy hitters will be able to clear the hill and get some extra distance from the downhill slope.
And again at Hole 5 you have another opportunity to cut a corner.
If you live in San Diego County it would be a shame to miss out on this amazing course. The rates at the Temecula Creek Inn are competitive with anywhere else and the course is in phenomenal condition. In addition, with the JC Players Card you get even greater discounts.
