By  |

We are excited to announce that Ellen DeGeneres has signed a deal to for a new standup comedy on Netflix. Since this is something we haven’t seen from DeGeneres in over 15 years, we don’t know what’s in store, but we are optimistic that you are going to laugh hard and binge the show on Netflix. Could there be a better announcement to start summer?

15 years ago, DeGeneres recorded Here and Now for HBO and it was a hit, to say the least. In fact, the show recorded at Bacon Theatre in New York, was nominated for two Primetime Emmy awards. Ever since, DeGeneres has been nominated for this award 13 times, and has won on one occasion. According to Forbes, DeGeneres’ stand up comedy awarded her with immeasurable fame in Hollywood.

Now, DeGeneres is a TV star and host, who earned over $75 million in 2016. Her most praised and syndicated daytime talk show series, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is watched by over 3.6 million people every single day. In addition to her talkshow series, she was the voice of Dory in both Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. Clearly, her fame has sincerely skyrocketed since her career as a standup comedian.

Nonetheless, her comedic relief from negative parts of the news and pop culture influence, truly sets her apart from other talk show hosts. There isn’t one episode of The Ellen DeGeneres show that doesn’t make you forget about negative events happening in the news or make you laugh so hard you can cry. Therefore, we can only assume that her new series of standup comedy will do just the same.

Other comedians currently on Netflix are Jerry Seinfield, Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle and Amy Schumer. Therefore, DeGeneres has some tough acts to follow. But, we know DeGeneres will exceed expectations and will be worth watching.

Stay Tuned for when the premiere date of this Netflix series starts with SD Entertainer.
