Zac Efron to Play Serial Killer Ted Bundy in ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’

It was just announced that Zac Efron will be playing the part of serial killer, Ted Bundy, in the new movie titled, ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.’ An atypical role from Efron’s past parts, we are excited to see Efron’s handle on this horrifying character.

Based on a true story, Theodore Robert Bundy was an American serial killer, rapist, necrophile, and burglar in the 1970s who confessed to over 30 homicides before his execution. The new movie coming out, ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,’ will be told from the perspective of his long term girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who initially refused to believe the allegations he was accused of. However, eventually, she bravely reported him to the police.

Oscar-nominated film maker, Joe Berlinger, who is known for ‘Paradise Lost,’ is to direct this twisted film. Additionally, Michael Werwie wrote the original screenplay, which was on the Black List and won the Nicholl Fellowship as a first prize winner. Principal photography for the film will begin this coming October, and needless to say, we are excited for the future of this film.

We are most excited to see Efron in such a distinctively different role than he normally plays. Considering he is known for his roles in ‘Neighbors,’ ‘High School Musical,’ Dirty Grandpa’ and the up and coming, ‘Baywatch’ as a comical teen, this independent drama is substantially different than his past roles.

However, Bundy was known for blinding his women victims with charisma and charm — a feat that won’t be difficult for Efron to portray. We expect Efron to surprise his fans with his performance in this new film and make a bold transformation into a more mature actor afterwards.

Though principal photography will commence soon, we are not sure on when the exact premiere date will be. Stay tuned for more updates on SD Entertainer.
