Tudors Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers Hospitalized

On Tuesday evening, Jonathan Rhys Meyers was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance after what may have been an attempted suicide. Nothing has been determined yet as a variety of sources have been speculating whether if it was an accidental overdose or an attempt on his life.

According to People, the paramedics found Myers in his London home collapsed on the floor in answer to a 999 call. They were forced to call the police after the actor had refused treatment. Meyers received the treatment at the hospital and was released on Wednesday morning.

The Irish actor is known for a variety of roles he has played over the years in films such as “Velvet Goldmine” (1998), “Titus” (1999), “Bend it Like Beckham” (2002), “The Lion in Winter” (2003), “Vanity Fair” (2004), “Alexander” (2004), “Match Point” (2005), “Elvis” (2005, role of Elvis Presley won him the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in TV Series), “Mission Impossible III” (2006), “August Rush” (2007), “From Paris with Love” (2010), and others. He is also well known for portrayal of King Henry VIII in the TV series “The Tudors” (2007-2010).

Meyers is known for his battles with alcoholism and his troubles associated with it. According to CBC News, due to his drunken actions and disruptive behavior, the actor has been banned for life from using United Airlines and was restrained at a French Airport.

He has tried to reach sobriety five times through rehab. He even checked in a rehab facility in South Africa earlier this month. The rehab center is a five star rated facility. No source has said whether he will try his 6th attempt towards sobriety. Guess we shall see whether this hospitalization is to be his wake up call.
