Ryan Seacrest is Returning to American Idol

Considering how much Ryan Seacrest has on his plate, we assumed that there was a slim chance that he would be back for the next season of American Idol. But, would it even be American Idol without one of the most popular hosts in history? That being said, Seacrest is returning as the host of American Idol for one last hurrah and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

From the first season back in 2002 to last season in 2016, Seacrest has truly been through it all with American Idol. Therefore, the news doesn’t come as a huge shock. However, Seacrest began hosting Live with Kelly and Ryan from New York. Also, he executive produces ABC’s annual live show, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. Not to mention, Seacrest will still host and executive produce On Air with Ryan Seacrest and the Top 40 radio show.

Thus, Seacrest’s balancing act of commitments is going to be tested more than ever before. If anyone could juggle this many responsibilities at once, it’s going to be Seacrest though.

Also, Fox cancelled the show back in 2016 and ABC took it over, so Seacrest’s familiar face is definitely going to get the ball rolling in the right direction. Seacrest showed that he was thrilled that American Idol earned a spot on ABC in a statement to CNN.

“To be asked to return this year, at my new home at Disney|ABC, is an honor, if not a bit surreal. I believe ABC is the perfect home for ‘Idol,’ and I’ve every confidence the show’s legions of fans will love it — especially ‘Idol”s best traditions of showcasing heartwarming stories, remarkable talent discovery, and, best of all, making dreams come true.”

American Idol is expected to return sometime during the 2017-2018 television season, but specific dates haven’t been confirmed at this time. Nevertheless, get ready for another entertaining season of “Idol” with Ryan Seacrest.
