Mark Zuckerberg Takes Paternity Leave

On Monday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, announced that they had their second child. Zuckerberg and Chan revealed their second daughter’s name, August, but refrained from releasing any more information about her.

Recently, Mark Zuckerberg wrote a heart warming post on Facebook to announce that he would be taking a paternity leave of two months, like he did when his first daughter Max was born.

“ll take a month off to be with Priscilla and the girls at the beginning, and then we’ll spend the whole month of December together as well,” Zuckerberg said. “I’m looking forward to bonding with our new little one and taking Max on adventures.”

Zuckerberg also mentioned Facebook’s policy regarding maternity and paternity leave on his social media post. Facebook offers employees of the US to take a paid leave of up to four months. He stated, “when working parents take time to be with their newborns, it’s good for the entire family.”

He also joked, “And I’m pretty sure the office will still be standing when I get back.”

Zuckerberg and Chan also wrote a heartfelt letter to August to welcome her into the world and their family, which they also shared with social media. Attached to this letter was a family photo of the newborn, Max, Chan, and Zuckerberg looking like a happy family excited for the future ahead.

“You only get to be a child once, so don’t spend it worrying too much about the future,” the couple wrote in a letter to August included in the post. “You’ve got us for that, and we’ll do everything we possibly can to make sure the world is a better place for you and all children in your generation.”

Zukerberg and Chan also wrote, “August, we love you so much and we’re so excited to go on this adventure with you. We wish you a life of joy, love and the same hope you give us.”
