Katy Perry to be New American Idol Judge
Katy Perry, one of the best pop musicians in the nation, was just announced to be one of the new judges on ABC’s revival of ‘American Idol’s’ 2017-18 season in the United States. The show previously aired on FOX, however, ABC is taking over and the network confirmed that Katy Perry would be take one of the judge’s seats this last Tuesday. We are more excited than ever to watch American Idol this year with this exciting news.
This year, Perry will be joining the 80’s pop icon, Paula Abdul, and Mariah Carey. Needless to say, the judge seats are undoubtedly full of Girl Bosses this year and a bright future lies ahead.
Unlike anything we’ve seen from Perry before, it will be truly interesting to watch her judge this year. Considering she is typically on the stage busting out pop tunes we all know and love and even performed at the Super Bowl half time show, she has a mass amount of stage experience gearing her for helpful advice for the contestants.
Perry is also just as excited as we are judging by her latest tweet about it. She said, “SO thrilled @ABCNetwork is bringing back @AmericanIdol, and I’m bringing it back to the MUSIC see you at auditions.” Hopefully, this tweet also exclaims that we will get to see her perform on the show.
ABC’s Entertainment President Channing Dungey made no mention of who would be hosting when she spoke at the Upfront event, an annual presentation designed to promote the fall season to advertisers. Even though Seacrest said he would be open to hosting again, it doesn’t look like a promising future. SD Entertainer will keep you posted on who the new host will be.
For now, get excited for the Fall season featuring Katy Perry. Here at SD Entertainer, we are excited to watch her shine as a judge and see her perform. Make sure to tune in to ABC this fall!
