Hip-hop star Soulja Boy arrested in Georgia

Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested early Tuesday morning for felony drug possession and weapons charges after police found a little over five ounces of marijuana, weapons, and nearly $50,000 cash in his vehicle in Temple, Georgia.

It was near the Alabama border where the rapper’s car was pulled over at 3:15 a.m. in a routine traffic stop. All five men within the car, including the driver and three bodyguards, were arrested and police are investigating whether the men have licenses to be carrying the firearms found. The arrest went smoothly, with no complications, and Soulja Boy’s bond has been set at a mere $10,000.

Selena Gomez gets restraining order against man who threatened to kill her

The 19-year-old Selena Gomez has obtained a restraining order out against Thomas Brodnicki, a 46-year-old man who has allegedly planned to kill her. Brodnicki, who apparently has a long history of mental illness, claims that conversations he’s had with God have led him to plan the young Disney star’s death.

The courts have ordered Brodnicki to stay at least 100 yards away from Gomez, as well as her family and her assistant. Gomez, star of “Monte Carlo” and the Disney program “Wizards of Waverly Place,” has reported in court documents that she has feared Brodnicki “will harm them in his attempts to see me or to harm or kill me.” According to Gomez, Brodnicki has gone as far as to visit her workplace at least three times prior to the temporary restraining order being issued on Oct. 13.

The threat to Gomez’s life is reportedly being taken very seriously by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Threat Management Unit, because of Brodnicki’s many visits to her workplace, threats, and history of mental illness. Brodnicki was brought to the police’s attention in September when he allegedly traveled from Chicago to Los Angeles to meet Gomez. Brodnicki was placed under a 72-hour mental hearth hold when he told a passerby that he would “scratch people’s eyes out.” While he was being detained, he allegedly told a doctor about his thoughts of hurting and killing Gomez, and it was that doctor that reported him to the police because he believed that Brodnicki posed a very serious threat to Gomez.

On Nov. 4 there will be a hearing regarding the temporary restraining order in the Burbank courthouse.
