Megan Fox is the New Spokesperson for Sharper Image
This morning Sharper Image, purveyors of executive and lifestyle electronics, announced that Megan Fox would become their new spokesperson. As part of the announcement Sharper Image gave us a sneak peak into their campaign by providing us with the following photo.
Along with a sleeker and sexier new look, with the help of Fox, Sharper Image will release a new website later this year. This campaign marks a return for Sharper Image. The company initially filed for bankruptcy in February of 2008, citing low sales due to a decline in consumer spending and negative press. At the time the company employed roughly 2,000 people and had retail stores worldwide. Soon after bankruptcy, the Sharper Image name and products were licensed to be sold through retail stores like Best Buy and Bed, Bath & Beyond. This campaign corresponds with an announcement last year that Sharper Image was considering reopening a few retail locations.
Similarly Fox, who starred in the blockbuster films Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is also making a return to the public eye. After her well documented falling out with Transformers director, and arguably one of the most powerful directors in Hollywood, Michael Bay, Fox suffered from a career slump starring in the films like Jennifer’s Body, the poorly reviewed Jonah Hex, in which she was nominated for 2 Golden Raspberry Awards, and Passion Play. Like the Sharper Image, Fox’s career seems to be moving in the right direction with the actress taking a role in Judd Apatow’s newest movie This is 40 featuring Jason Segel and Paul Rudd.
The combination of Sharper Image and Megan Fox makes sense. Both are struggling to redefine themselves and make a comeback, or in the case of Sharper Image sell more electronics. Either way it will be interesting to see if Sharper Image or Megan Fox can get their career and business back on track.
