Brandon Davies Suspended from BYU Basketball Team

BYU baskbetall player Brandon Davies has been suspended from the team for the rest of the season due to breaking the university’s honor code. Davies admitted to having sex with his girlfriend, breaking the rules of premarital sex at the Mormon university.

The BYU Cougars are currently ranked third in the nation, and Davies’ teammates were shocked to hear about the news about his suspension for the team, just two weeks before the NCAA Tournament’s Selection. The team’s coach Dave Rose told New York Daily News that it was a surprise to everyone, but he does think that Davies will play again eventually. Davies’ suspension was announced on Tuesday, just a few days after the team played against their rival, SDSU.

The University’s strict honor code bans the use of tobacco, illegal drugs, alcohol, and coffee.

Jimmer Fredette, the team’s best player, reflected on Davies’ apology. “He told us everything. He told us he was sorry and that he let us down.”
