Bachelorette couple Ali and Roberto to make San Diego home

By  |

After record high ratings on Monday night for ABC’s sixth season of The Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky, 25, chose Roberto Martinez, 26, as her main man. The couple later appeared on an After the Rose special with Chris Harrison for the first time publicly, canoodling up a storm and revealing they rented an apartment and will make San Diego their home.

In fact, Martinez also told viewers he will be starting up his business after speaking with his company and is looking forward to spending time in San Diego. As for the former Facebook employee, Fedotowsky says she will be looking for a new gig and “as long as we’re together,” she’s happy.

She chose Roberto, an insurance agent and a fan favorite ever since he got out of the limo on May 24, and was later rewarded with the first impression rose. The tall, dark and handsome Martinez beat out 25 other men after a long season of controversial moments. From Justin the wrestler walking off the show to Frank telling Ali he was in love with another woman and letting Chris go only hours before the finale (he was OK though after he got a message in the form of a gorgeous rainbow in Tahiti thanks to his dearly departed mom), this season’s Bachelorette was the most successful ince 2004 according to a press release put out by ABC. Early numbers report that the show was up over its year ago finale by 1.6 million viewers (11.6 million versus 10.0 million) and by 6 percent among adults 18-29, pulling its strongest finale numbers overall since 2004 when it concluded on Feb. 25.

With the finale of The Bachelorette, ABC finished as No. 1 in the time period for the 10th consecutive week (on every telecast this season), outperforming its closest competitor (CBS) by 5.0 million viewers and by 85 percent in adults 18-49. The veteran ABC unscripted series built steadily throughout its telecast, drawing an average of 13.1 million viewers and a 4.3/12 during its final half-hour from 9:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Let’s all just hope we don’t have another Jake and Vienna on our hands or a Deanna and Jesse or Jillian and Ed ….
