The Southern California music scene has boomed in the last decade. Thousands of promising musicians have been chasing their dream, providing fierce competition the industry is so famous for.

Presenting you with some excellent performers is The North Park Music Thing, an event that will host the San Diego Music & Media Conference and Festival this Saturday, August 7th, through the 9th at the Lafayette Hotel & Suites in University Heights.

Prior to the music fest, conference registrants will learn about the music business through workshops, discussions and demo review sessions. There will be keynote speakers like bassist and songwriter, Nathan East, a San Diego native and UCSD alumni who recently performed at this year’s Inaugural Concert Celebration for President Barack Obama.

Following the conference, close to 150 musicians will perform on several stages around North Park. There will also be a live art show, international food court and a variety of street vendors. Bands featured include, The Night Marchers, Presidents of the United States of America, Scott Russo & the Big Big Bang, Black Heart Procession, Steve Poltz & the Rugburns and Avi Buffalo.

Official opening night will take place Friday at the Casbah. Saturday will be the music fest and the final day on Sunday will be the street fest!
