Exclusive Interview with Grammy Award Winner Afrojack

By  |

In the past couple of years, Afrojack has become one of the most sought-after DJs in the world. With popular hit singles such as “Take Over Control” and “Can’t Stop Me,” the Dutch DJ and music producer has definitely created a name for himself in the EDM industry. The second leg of his JACKED tour was announced back in September with 20 headlining dates across North America.  The tour finally kicked off on October 25th and this past weekend, thousands of excited San Diegans gathered at Petco Park and Voyeur night club to get “JACKED.” The San Diego Entertainer was  fortunate enough to get an exclusive interview with the musical icon.

SDE: How does it feel to be a celebrity?
AJ: I didn’t try to become a celebrity; all I ever wanted to do was to share my music with people who understand it.

SDE:  What do you consider as one of your greatest accomplishments in life?
AJ: That I won a Grammy for the Revolver remix of Madonna. To be the first Dutch artist who wins a Grammy is unbelievable.

SDE: What are some exciting things we can all look forward to in your upcoming album?
AJ: Fresh productions, lots of interesting collaborations and of course AFROJACK MUSIC!

SDE: You were a headliner for both EDC and Coachella this past year. Does it ever make you nervous to be on stage in front of such large audiences?
AJ: I love to be on stage and connect with the crowd! That’s what I love most about my job. To share my music and see the crowd go wild.

SDE:  Who are some artists that you would love to collaborate with in the future?
AJ: I would still love to collaborate with Coldplay! Their music is great.

SDE: What did you want to be as a child and If you could pick a different profession what would it be?
AJ: When I was a kid I always knew I wanted to do something with music and at sixteen I knew I wanted to be a DJ/producer. I never wanted to do anything else.

SDE: What excites you most about your upcoming performances in San Diego?
AJ:  I love San Diego, it’s a beautiful city and the people are great. I’m very excited to meet new people and to see old friends.

If you didn’t get a chance to see Afrojack in San Diego this weekend, you missed out! Don’t forget to look out for his new album coming out soon!
