Coachella 2011 Lineup Released

By  |

The Coachella 2011 lineup was released Tuesday night after a countless amount of rumored artists, anticipation, and false lineup buzz. This year’s lineup continues the Coachella Valley Music Festival tradition of diverse and widespread musical genres with a touch more of the festival’s known indie flare. Headliners include: The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Duran Duran, Kanye West, Interpol, Arcade Fire, Caifanes, Death From Above 1979 and much, much more.

Every year prior to Goldenvoice’s (the festival’s organizers) official release of the festival lineup, fans create false lineups. Although many fans had high hopes for rumored artists such as Daft Punk and Blonde Redhead, this year’s lineup seems unlikely to disappoint!

Regardless, a few laughs and high hopes were provided by false lineups created by fellow fans and posted on websites such as coachellaleaks. The accuracy of some this year were actually shockingly correct, however those boding headliners such as The Rolling Stones did seem a bit unlikely.

The Strokes are one of this year's headliners and their new album, Angles, is to be released this upcoming year.

Here is some general information for Coachella newcomers: the festival is located in Indio, California on the Empire Polo Fields and will be held April 15-17th. Indio has a desert setting with festival temperature averages at around 100°F. So, be prepared for long hot days and cooler desert nights! The festival includes five main stages, over 180 different artists, various art installments and sculptures, camping grounds for attendees, and even a sustainability program in efforts to keep the festival environmentally friendly.

This year also brings the introduction of new camping grounds, Lake Eldorado, which offers camping grounds adjacent to the newly redeveloped Lake Eldorado. This lovely view and facility does come at a high cost, ranging from $1,000 to $1,600 depending on the amount of people lodging there.

More importantly festival tickets will be sold starting this Friday, January 21st at 10am through the festival’s website. The cost for an amazing three days of incredible music, art, and entertainment is a whopping $269 plus the additive of a $3 charity fee and $9 facility fee and other service and shipping charges that may apply.

To many, $300 seems like a lot to spend on a music festival. Coachella is worth every penny for those making it a yearly tradition among friends.
