Padres beat Giants but will head to LA to face challenges

By  |

The Padres beat the Giants 3-1 yesterday, sweeping the 7 game series against the Nor-Cal team.  The win is being attributed to Clayton Richards pitching, as well as a solid and timely hitting. Richards allowed only one run on three hits with five strikeouts in seven innings.

The win against San Francisco comes at a critical time, ending their season high three-game losing streak against the Dodgers. Runs are credited to Adrian Gonzalez, with his eighth home run of the season, Chase Headley with a two-out RBI single and Kyle Blanks who got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in the final run in the seventh inning. This win is their 11th of 14 games played against the Giants.

The Padres are coming off of a disappointing loosing streak against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Richard explains, “We’re playing pretty good baseball. I know the Dodger series was a little bit rough, but we got back on track.” San Diego has one more game against San Francisco, and locals are betting on a win. The game starts at 7:05pm and will air on local channel 4 tonight, Tuesday May 18. Tickets are still available if you’d like to head to the ballpark to watch the game in person.

Traveling to Los Angeles on Wednesday and Thursday, the Padres will once again face the Dodgers. The Dodgers have been playing well, winning the last 7 straight games and the outcome is far from predictable. Tune in to channel 4 at 7:00pm to watch the game play out.

Overall, the Padres are ranked #1 in the National League West with 23 wins and 15 losses; they are followed by San Francisco and Los Angles both with 21 wins. Only time will tell where the Padres will be this season, but San Diegans are hoping for a better season than we saw last year. Things are looking good so far, so Padres, keep it up!

San Diego resident for over 10 years, I now call this beautiful city home. Originally from the Bay Area, I'm a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, fitness, food, and a good craft beer (from San Diego of course).
