What: Belmont Park’s first certified farmers’ market opens this Friday, June 7. The weekly market, comprised of 50 local farmers, ranchers, artisans, crafts-persons and hot food vendors, will provide a unique shopping experience to locals and travelers alike. All farmers at Brian’s Farmers’ Markets use pesticide-free growing techniques.
Who: The market will be managed by Brian Beevers, who also runs the UTC, Point Loma and Golden Hill Certified Farmers’ Markets.
When: Launching this Friday, June 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the market will take place weekly.
More details/visuals: Kids between 4 and 13 years old will have the opportunity to participate in a fruit- and veggie-filled scavenger hunt that entails meeting and speaking with the local vendors. Those who complete it with the correct answers will be entered into a drawing for a VIP Belmont Park experience for four. Beevers and all market vendors will be available for interview.
About Brian’s Farmers’ Markets
Brian’s Farmers’ Markets is owned and operated by Brian Beevers, whose goal is to get more San Diegans turning to farmers’ markets, instead of supermarket chains, to meet their food needs. Brian opened his first farmers’ market in 2009. Now, Belmont Park joins established markets in Golden Hill, UTC and Point Loma.
