There is no time for rest here in San Diego as another fun-filled weekend is upon us. A multitude of music madness, football fandom, and charity celebrations are sure to keep you on the move and having fun through Sunday.

Thursday, October 14th

Offering global wines and local brews along with fine cuisine in one of the most picturesque places in San Diego County, the Prado’s 10th Annual Harvest Festival in Balboa Park is the event to attend for a much deserved mid-week break (or early start to the weekend), while watching true culinary masters compete in their Second Annual Chef Grill-Off.

If you weren’t quick enough to pick up tickets to the now sold out Foals show at Casbah, don’t worry! The Casbah presents Frightened Rabbit, a Scottish indie rock band, with Plants and Animals and Bad Veins tonight at The House of Blues. Also, The Loft at UC San Diego will host a soothing jazz performance by Meklit Hadero presented by ArtPower, providing a great way to refuel before the last day of the workweek.

Friday, October 15th

After hitting up happy hour, enjoy another exhilarating escape via one of tonight’s great concerts. UCSD students and guests can cruise down to Warren Field for FallFest 2010, featuring performances by Big Boi, Mute Math, and N.A.S.A. with DJ set by Squeak E. Clean.

Then it’s complete music madness and mayhem! A flurry of beat-tastic beasts flood the San Diego stages. Indie-electro band Hyena will rock the Casbah along with San Francisco-based musicians Music for Animals. Colombian hip-shaking she wolf herself, Shakira, hits the stage at the San Diego Sports Arena, while rockers Alice in Chains take on the Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl.

Saturday, October 16th

This weekend is the Bike MS May to Bay Tour 2010. Watch as a participants take on a one to two day journey of 30, 100, or 150 miles in order to fundraise for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Join as an individual or with a team to raise awareness of a debilitating disease affecting thousands of people all over the world by riding throughout the Southern California coastline, ending with a night-long celebration including live music, refreshing brews, and a health expo.

Since the San Diego Chargers are away in St. Louis readying themselves for their games against the Rams tomorrow, get your live football fix at the San Diego State University Homecoming Game as the local Aztecs take on the Air Force Academy Falcons at Qualcomm Stadium. The competition continues with women on wheels as the San Diego Derby Dolls face Team Cruz on the Del Mar Fairgrounds Banked Track.

Load friends and family into the car and frolic over to some of the fun festivals occurring all over the county today. Fruit of the Soul, a wonderful event featuring food, art, and philanthropy benefitting  the Monarch School, A Reason To Survive (ARTS), Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center and Sezio, will be held at the Specialty Produce Warehouse. For those 21+, the 14th Annual Ballast Point Beer Festival and Charity Event at NTC North Promenade at Liberty Station allows attendants to try some of the best local and statewide brews while enjoying great food and live music. Free events open for all include the Point Loma Nazarene Fall Festival and the 5th Annual 2010 Arts & Culture Fest.

After enjoying the mesmerizing melodies of Maroon 5 featuring Bruno Mars and OneRepublic at Viejas Arena, head down to the Gaslamp Quarter to experience San Diego nightlife at its finest. The House of Blues hosts the 2010 Pink Party, a night of drinking and dancing to promote breast cancer awareness, while Hip Hop legend Rev Run performs live at Belo nightclub.

Sunday, October 17th

This Sunday is a great example of how the best things in life are free. Support local youth football and cheer in Spring Valley at the First Annual Spring Valley Tailgate & BBQ Festival being held at Cali Comfort Restaurant & Sports Bar and sign up your amateur BBQ team for a cash prize. Then head down to La Jolla Cove for the Green Expo 2010, a celebration to help provide the community with information on how we can all help the environment. Finally, cruise down to North Park for the Sunday Crafty Sunday Dia de los Muertos Gift Bazaar at Queen Bee’s Art & Culture Center and check out the great handiwork and crafts of local vendors.

Need some music to conclude the crazy weekend correctly? Well, if you weren’t fortunate enough to snag a spot at the Concerts in the Vines at Orfila Vineyards and Winery, then head over to the Balboa Theatre for the annual Aki no Matsuri Festival featuring ukulele artist Jake Shimabukuro.
