This Weekend in SD – Comedians and concertos take over the county!

It’s mid-month music madness in San Diego. A great mix of performers hit the county including an awesome comedian, a reality TV star, and well-known pianist. So take advantage of this bright, eventful weekend with some great activities below.

Comedy

Feel like you need a good laugh? Well then Saturday, January 15th, is your day to do so. While grown little man Kevin Hart hits up the Civic Theatre on his Laugh At My Pain Tour with a sold out show at 8pm, Kiki Melendez can be seen at 4th & B. Also in the area is entertainment commentator and television personality Joan Rivers will be at the Balboa Theater.

Concerts

Per usual, a great number of bands will be rocking some of the many great stages of San Diego throughout the weekend. American Idol season 7 contestant Josiah Leming can be seen at Lestats on Saturday at 9pm while Alyssa Jacey performs on the 5th Avenue Restaurant Side Stage at the House of Blues at 8pm.

Get that reggae sway going as Rebelution gets the audience going at the House of Blues for two nights this weekend. Their Winter Greens Tour stays in town both Thursday and Friday, first with an all ages show on the 13th at 7pm, then a 21+ show on the 14th at 8pm. Also in the area for a couple days is Convoy at Casbah. They have a sold out show on Saturday with Behind the Wagon and Western Set, so be sure to catch them on Friday with Blackout Party and Brothers Grimm.

Don’t miss out on some other great shows including the Rock Yourself to Sleep Tour at the SOMA, True 2 Crue with 6ONE9 & Alice in Cooperland at the House of Blues, along with West End Motel with Fiend Without a Face and Pant Hoots as well as Sweet Meadow with Dead Apple and The Makeup Sex all at the Casbah.

Lang Lang Concerto Festival

The San Diego Symphony welcomes award-winning international pianist Lang Lang as a guest this weekend. From Friday through Sunday, grab tickets to see him play his way through Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Tchaikovsky. Don’t miss out on this wonderful and rare opportunity to see a music superstar taken on three composers in three days!

Other Great Events

San Diego Restaurant Week starts this Sunday, January 16 and lasts through next Friday, January 21. Get more information on this amazing county-wide dining excursion here.

Before spending the next week gorging yourself on fine dining around San Diego, be sure to visit the Del Mar Fairgrounds for a weekend full of shopping and sports. Support the local San Diego Derby Dolls this Saturday as the Hard Corps take on the LADD Sirens.

Also this weekend, Del Mar hosts both the Ski & Snowboard MegaSale (Jan. 13-16) the National Baseball Expo (Jan. 15-16). Admission is free to the Megasale and your shopping is rewarded! A $50 purchase of snow gear gets you a free unrestricted lift ticket to Snow Valley. Tickets to the Expo are only $5 for kids and $10 for adults.
