Twilight Concerts in Balboa

Spreckels Pavilion 3Each week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Twilight in the Park Summer Concerts hosts live performances from various bands. Unique and talented groups perform at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion for the enchanted audience. Concerts are held in the evenings from 6:15 to 7:15.and admission is free for all.

To make the decision easier, we post weekly updates on the upcoming bands scheduled to perform.

This week’s performances:

July 2 – Mariachi Chula Vista Band (Traditional Mexican Music)

Ready to dance to the festive music of a talented mariachi band? On Tuesday night, the Mariachi Chula Vista Band will be on stage to show off their music. Known as one of the best student mariachi bands in the country, the group has performed alongside world-renown mariachi groups that include Los Camperos de Nati Cano, Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernández, Mariachi de América de Jesús Rodríguez de Hijar, Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, Mariachi Divas, and  Mariachi Internacional Guadalajara and others. Since the band was first created in 2001, at the Chula Vista High School, its members have performed for over 900 events around the country in cities such as Santa Barbara, Tucson, San Diego, San Jose, Phoenix, and more. According to the group’s website, “Mariachi Chula Vista has won numerous awards and competitions, including Overall First Place at the Albuquerque Mariachi Spectacular (2006 and 2009) after defeating groups in all divisions.” Come and listen to the band and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere their music creates.

Spreckels Pavilion 2July 3 – Red Headed Stranger (Willie Nelson Tribute Band)

Got a love for Willie Nelson? Then you’ll enjoy the musical talents of the Red Headed Stranger, a tribute band to the famous country singer. Located in San Diego, the group performs at various events to bring to life Willie Nelson’s songs and stories. According to the band’s profile page at the Tribute Band directory site, “Red Shepherd (who uncannily looks and sounds unbelievably like Willie) and his band recreate the magical experience of a live Willie Nelson concert performance that will leave you absolutely spellbound.” The band’s members include, on lead vocals and guitar, Red Shepherd, and on drums and percussion, D.B. Madden. If you feel like dancing along to some good old country, come to the Pavilion on Wednesday evening.

July 4 – No Concert (Holiday)
