Making your Labor Day work for you

All summers come to an end, even in San Diego. Here are some fun ways to see the season out:

laborday484th Annual Labor Day Pier Swim:

September 2, 7:30am – 11:30pm , $40  or  $35 with Pre-Purchase, Oceanside Pier, 1540 N. Harbor Dr., Oceanside, CA, 92054, 7660-435-1031

Once again the Oceanside Swim Club puts on the last swim of the season, with a one mile course that water enthusiasts can use to get their last fill of the ocean for the summer. The Pier Swim will hand out awards based on gender and age for all swimmers 12 and older, with parental consent required for minors.

Hornblower Brunch Cruise:

Finish off the summer by partaking in a 2-hour brunch and cruise. Experience champagne and beer pairings with a beautiful buffet full of brunch favorites, including delightful desserts. Music provided by a DJ tops off the cruise.laborday2

San Diego Roller Derby and Skateworld present “Labor Pain Invitational” Tournament:

The first roller derby tournament hosted by San Diego Roller Derby and will feature the best “B” level teams in the Southwest.  Presale tickets are available for sale through Brown Paper Tickets  and are $10 for one day, $17 for a three-day pass. Tickets will be sold at the door for $12 for one day and $20 for 3 days.

Festival of Sail:

The west coast’s most extensive tall ship festival  starts a few days before the holiday and continues to Tuesday. It’s free and visitors can not only observe the ships, but meet and talk with the crews.
