Upcoming Comedy Shows in San Diego

If you’re disappointed your nights out have lately consisted of going out for dinner then being in bed by 9 pm, maybe all you need is some good laughs. No, I’m not talking about firing up Netflix and putting on a comedy film or stand-up, I’m talking about hitting a comedy show! If you like to laugh, love to have fun, and like going out with friends, then going out to a comedy show is perfect. Dress up, grab a few drinks, and settle in to laugh your heart out, because there a number of great upcoming shows you don’t want to miss.

Jim Jeffries is coming to San Diego on March 24th at the Spreckles Theatre. This Australian comic has been on the come-up for the past few years, with many fantastic projects coming out from him. His Netflix specials Bare and Freedumb are filled with his special blend of dark comedy, satire and observational comedy. For someone who was born in Australia, he has a deep understanding of American culture, and delivers a sizzling critique of it in a way that will have you doubling over with laughter. He also has quite the knack for acting, evident by his performances in his late TV show Legit, as well as his currently running show, The Jim Jeffries Show. He translates this acting experience on stage, providing an immersive experience that you’ll be hard pressed to not like. Make sure to get your tickets before they sell out!

Jo Koy will be performing at Jacobs Music Center’s Copley Symphony Hall on January 21st. Koy is a Filipino-American stand-up comic who is currently touring throughout the country. His current tour, Break The Mold, will be stopping in San Diego to deliver his signature comedic performance. Beginning his career through open-mic comedy performances, he eventually began performing in Las Vegas. He is well-known for his regular appearances on The Adam Carolla Show as well as Chelsea Lately. His two comedy specials, Don’t Make him Angry and Lights Out both aired on Comedy Central to high-ratings. His first Netflix special, Jo Koy: Live from Seatle, was released on March 28th, 2017 to equally high ratings. Tickets to this event are sure to sell out soon, so grab your tickets soon!

Demetri Martin will be bringing his awkward comedy performance to Balboa Theatre on February 2nd. With experience as an actor, artist, musician, director, and writer, this multi-talented comedian has had many appearances on popular shows including The Daily Show and Comedy Central. Martin is known for his deadpan delivery, with his jokes having little to no emotion behind the, definitely adding to the quirky qualities of his personality. He sometimes utilizes a large drawing pad to help with his delivery, in addition to playing various musical instruments. He has stated that he plays instruments during his live performances so his act can’t easily be edited to better fit television broadcasts, which speaks volumes of his integrity as a comedian.
