As the three day President’s Day weekend approaches, you might be realizing the agenda is a mere blank page. Even though staying in pajamas all day sounds like the best resolution to this rainy weather conundrum, it might be time to overstep your comfort zone and adventure beyond the fuzzy socks glued to your feet. Despite the rain this three day-weekend, events in San Diego are limitless by both day and night.

BY DAY:

Balboa Park Puzzling Adventure

Before the rain hits, you can explore the beautiful Balboa Park by taking a tour of the flower filled gardens and historic architecture. This ‘Amazing Race’ type of adventure will test your mind and physical body through a series of puzzles. The various quests require you to answer questions or solve puzzles in order to move on to the next location and receive new instructions.

San Diego Harbor Cruise

The San Diego Harbor cruise floats for 13 miles and allows passengers to view over 50 landmarks of San Diego. Landmarks like Seaport Village, Shelter Island, Coronado Island and Cabrillo National monument are just a few of the breathtaking milestones you can sight-see. Additionally, the professionally narrated tour exposes sea animals and birds with highlights of the environmental efforts to protect them. Boats have indoor seating as well, so rain won’t dampen your spirits.

Farmers Markets

Hopefully the expected rain won’t obliterate the farmers markets this weekend, but there is a high chance it might. Fortunately, the farmers markets are ongoing indefinitely, so you can add it to the agenda for the next sunny weekend. Knowing San Diego, the sun will shine sooner rather than later, anyways. At farmers markets in Pacific Beach and Hillcrest, you can smell the sweet aroma of freshly picked flowers, sample original recipes of chili pepper flavored hummus, and buy antique turquoise jewelry.

Bite San Diego

San Diego is home to delicious cuisine from all over the world and you can taste it by going on this guided walking tour. Make sure to come with an empty belly for a Parisian and Italian food experience in the heart of Little Italy .

Birdwing Open Air Yoga

If work was stressful this week or you want to mentally prepare for the hard week ahead, attending a yoga class might relieve excess stress this Sunday. The coastal yoga class at the San Dieguito Lagoon Open Air classroom will welcome people of all levels of yoga for a free class this Sunday. Enjoy the scenery, while s challenging yourself to try new yoga poses.

BY NIGHT:

San Diego Improv Festival

The 4th annual San Diego Improv festival is occurring this weekend at an inexpensive rate. This comical repertoire will feature comedians from all over the world who are specifically performing for this festival. Comedians will perform, teach, and party with attendants of the festival, so it isn’t an opportunity you want to miss out on.

Monster Truck Jam

If you enjoy 2000-horse power engines racing against each other, the 25th annual Monster Truck Jam is the major event of the weekend. The cars will crush into each other as dirt aimlessly flies and drivers will perform incredible freestyle stunts. Some of the World Final champions like Grave Digger, Max D, El Toro Loco, Metal Mulisha and Bounty Hunter will be excitedly be competing at the event once again.

Paranormal Investigation:

If you find pleasure in the hairs on your back sticking straight up and your movie of choice is ‘The Exorcist,” you should go to The Davis Horton House this weekend. Rumor has it, this house is alive with spirits from the past and is potentially the scariest house in all of Gaslamp Quarter. These paranormal investigations occur monthly and are led by the San Diego Ghost Hunters, which is a professional paranormal research team.

Karaoke Friday
