This Weekend In San Diego: Hockey, Concerts, Surfing, Paddle Boarding and More!

By  |

San Diego has been enjoying some beautiful 75 degree weather this week and we’re hoping the same for the weekend. There is so much to see and do in San Diego, if you’re a visitor it can all be a bit overwhelming of where to start your adventures. Rest assured we have you covered with a good mix of different things you can get into for the next couple of days.

CATCH A SAN DIEGO HOCKEY GAME

If you haven’t seen a Gulls game this year it is always a fun date activity or to grab some nachos & beers with the girls/guys and do something different for the night. Plus hockey is insanely entertaining with the fights and action between the players.

CONCERTS TO CHECK OUT

Into live shows? There are a handful of bands playing this weekend at various venues. Grab some friends and go have some fun with these performances.

  • Dashboard Confessional playing at The House of Blues Friday February 3rd, 2017 6:00pm
  • Sweet & Tender Hooligans playing at North Park Observatory Saturday February 4th, 2017 8:00pm

SURFING AND PADDLE BOARDING

Surfing can be a really fun thing to do in San Diego if the waves cooperate. It’s good exercise and the kids can learn as well! Want to get in the water but surfing isn’t really your thing? Opt for Paddle boarding on Mission Bay, not only is it super scenic and a fun way to see the bay but it’s an addicting way to exercise. All ages can do this and you can paddle board year around if you don’t mind getting your feet wet.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL

Who didn’t love Matilda growing up? Matilda the Musical is based on the children’s novel by Roald Dahl, which was later turned into a movie. The production was adapted by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. The musical centers around Matilda, a young girl who overcomes life’s many obstacles. This is something surely to check out with the kids (or without) as it will be fun for the whole family!

Location: San Diego Civic Center
When: Now through February 5, 2017

BIG BEAR DAY TRIP

Haven’t made it to the snow this year? Big Bear is about 2 hours outside of San Diego. You can make it a fun and quick day trip to check out the quaint little town or go boarding on the mountain. As this is their busy season, probably best to leave earlier than later. For more info on loft tickets, resort, and driving info click here.

BEST OF SAN DIEGO COMEDY

Come check out San Diego’s best comedy at The Comedy Store in La Jolla. They have a good show for tonight that will for sure make you chuckle!

SUNDAY FUNDAY BRUNCH

Fig Tree Cafe in North Pacific beach is set in an indoor/outside atmosphere that cozy & cute and they offer some seriously delicious breakfast and lunch or “brunch” if you will.

A lot of organic options as well as the best freshly squeezed OJ in all the land, freshly ground organic coffee, and highly suggest the Veggie Scramble or their French toast. Grab your friends and have some good food with specialty cocktails or champagne.
