This Weekend in San Diego: December 8th-10th
With the weekend approaching quickly, don’t wait to make your plans too late! The beautiful city of San Diego has plenty of exciting events to make the most of your weekend, so take advantage of them!
Friday, December 8th
Ice Skating on The Seaside
Celebrating its 13th year, Hotel Del Coronado is bringing ice skating to the warm climate of San Diego. The rink, located on the seaside on Windsor Lawn, draws thousands of visitors every year. You will find the event decorated with festive white lights decking out the hotels Victorian structures, and holiday music and warm drinks to accompany the cold night. Skating will cost $30 per person, and will include ice skate rentals.
Carols by Candlelight
Taking place at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, this 28th annual concert will feature amazing country artists Brandy Clark, Lonestar, and Charlie Worsham, along with others, singing Christmas songs. The concert will begin at 8 p.m., and all the proceeds for ticket sales will go towards supporting Rady’s Children’s Hospital. This event will be sure to get your holiday spirits up, and inspire you to sing along, spreading Christmas time cheer.
Stars at Mission Trails
Sponsored by the San Diego Astronomy Association, this event takes place at the Mission Trails, and will feature an amazing stargazing session. From 7pm to 10pm, the SD Astronomy Association will provide telescopes to glimpse at the vast night sky from this striking vantage point. The event will be free for all to attend, but be sure to bring some warm clothing, as it will be colder at night.
Saturday, December 9th
Sweat for Service
If you’re looking to start off your Saturday morning with a blood-pumping workout, then why not do it in style on the USS Midway, with an upbeat dance fitness class. With a live DJ playing adrenaline pumping tunes, this event could be a great way to continuing pursuing your fitness goals while supporting a great cause. The Sweat for Service event is held to benefit the Travis Manion Foundation, which supports the families of fallen soldiers. Tickets will be $18 per person.
San Diego Santa Run
Another great choice to get your workout, come out and marvel at the sight of hundreds of people dressed as Santa participate in this run. Taking place on the streets of Pacific Beach, this unique 1 or 3.1 mile course will surely be memorable, and the best part? Everyone is welcome to participate, even dogs!
Poway Christmas in the Park
A treasured tradition in Poway, this event brings old-time horse drawn carriages, carolers, and crafting to the city, and is perfect for any family. It will even feature a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, so be sure to bring your camera to snap some pics!
Sunday, December 10th
Santa at the Lakes
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Santee Lakes turns into a winter wonderland, complete with Santa, crafts, character meet and greets, and other fun activities. It even features man made snow, which will sure be a hit for the kids. The event is free, and tickets for activities are just $1!
Free Concert at Mission Trails
Talented musicians Chris and Jamie Burns will be performing a free, one-hour concert at the visitor center at Mission Hills park. With over 80 seats available, be sure to find a spot early, so you don’t miss out!
San Diego Bay Parade of Lights
In its astonishing 48th anniversary, come out to watch the amazing parade of lights sail around the San Diego Bay. With multiple viewing spots, it will be a memorable holiday experience for all ages.
