Cheers! May 25 is International Wine Day

By  |

May 25 is International Wine Day. Luckily, we don’t have to travel far to enjoy a good glass of vino. San Diego is home to many unique and quirky wineries, and whether you’re a wine connoisseur or you’re new to the scene, there’s plenty of places that are perfect for celebrating.

Solterra Winery

Solterra is situated a couple of blocks from the beach in North County. Solterra’s owner and winemaker Chris Van Alyea grew up in Sonoma County and has been making wine for the last 16 years from grapes sourced in Sonoma County, Lake County, Paso Robles, San Diego County, and Baja Mexico. The wines have garnered Golds and Best of Class at top competitions in California. Solterra is the perfect place to celebrate International Wine Day. Play a game of bocce ball on the court or listen to live music on the patio from 6-8pm. Cheers!

Our production winery, conveniently located just off the I-8, is open every weekend for wine tasting and personal tours. The La Mesa Village venue, offers a cozy wine bar experience where visitors quickly become friends, enjoying sidewalk seating and live music on weekends. Our newest location at Seaport Village, provides a gateway to San Diego Wine Country for vacationers and locals alike, as they enjoy our wines overlooking San Diego Bay from our deck patio. San Pasqual’s unique passionfruit wines (including the habanero-inspired “Hot Passion”) are consistent award winners at the local, state, and international levels. Head over to any of their locations for International Wine Day and try some award winning vino.

Blue Door Urban Winery

This winery is located in Clairemont, and its straightforward approach to wine is refreshingly simple. The staff is knowledgable and friendly, and they are always ready to share their passion for wine with anyone who walks in the door. The unique events at Blue Door bring in crowds and allow you to sip vino in the presence of good company during good conversation- the way wine was meant to be enjoyed. Check out their upcoming events that include wine and paint night, wine and yoga, and a barrel tasting.
