Where to Shuck on National Oyster Day

Calling out Oyster lovers! National Oyster Day is on Monday, August 5th, so we’re here to point you in the right direction to the best deals in San Diego. Check out these top spots to enjoy some fresh oysters. 

JRDN Restaurant – Pacific Beach 

Chilled oysters are a must for hot summer days, and JRDN Restaurant is serving up incredibly fresh fare. Take in incredible views of the Pacific Ocean while enjoying a dozen Fresh Oysters, complete with cucumber-hibiscus mignonette, cocktail sauce, and fresh lemon. 

Fish Shop – multiple locations 

Celebrate National Oyster Day at one of Fish Shop’s four locations, where they’ll be serving up fresh Oysters, including their Fish Shop Oyster Shooter, served spicy or non-spicy with a beer chaser and garnished with poached shrimp. 

The Duck Dive – Pacific Beach 

A favorite neighborhood spot for locals, The Duck Dive will be serving their Oysters Rockefeller, a shareable appetizer consisting of broiled oysters topped with chopped shrimp, spinach, chipotle, pepper jack cheese, and breadcrumbs. Pair it with a $5 house wine or $5 wells drink, and you’re in for a good time. 

20|Twenty Grill – Carlsbad 

Carlsbad is one of the greatest places in San Diego for getting fresh seafood, and 20|Twenty will be celebrating National Oyster Day with their Pacific Oysters. Half a dozen delectable oysters with honey-ginger and mignonette and lemon – sign us up. 

Cloak & Petal – Little Italy 

In addition to the trendy eatery’s authentic Japanese cuisine, Cloak & Petal also has a killer Oysters on the Half shell. Served with radish, ponzu, and scallions, these oysters are simple yet sure to hit the spot. 

Beerfish – North Park 

You really can’t beat Beerfish’s deals for celebrating National Oyster Day. Featuring $1 Oysters, $4 Oyster Tacos, and $10 Oyster Rockefeller, there’s something for everyone here. They also serve a delicious Oyster Po’Boy Slider, topped with red piranha sauce, pickled red onion, and mixed greens all on a sweet Hawaiian roll. 

WhipHand – East Village 

Cold draft beers and top-notch Oysters are on the menu at WhipHand for National Oyster Day. Start the day off with Garlic Buttered & Parmesan Oysters, or the Oyster Rockefeller, both of which pair well with the many craft beers on tap. 

Fort Oak – Mission Hills 

A new concept from Trust Restaurant Group, Fort Oak offers customers a variety of expansive seafood that is not to be missed. Every Monday, including National Oyster Day, Fort Oak will offer $1 oysters from 3 to 5 PM.

Waterbar – Pacific Beach 

Enjoy fresh oysters while listening to the waves crash at Waterbar. Served with red wine mignonette, lemon, and hot sauce, you can have the option of ordering 6 or 12, making a perfect afternoon snack or pre-dinner appetizers. 

Lionfish – Gaslamp

Serving up top-notch modern coastal cuisine, Lionfish has an excellent selection of oysters, with your choice of East Coast, West Coast, or Baja. Each is prepared with a simple Balsamic Mignonette and Lemon, with half-dozen for $18 or dozen for $34.
