Waypoint Public Opens in Del Sur

By  |

If you haven’t visited Waypoint Public in North Park to try their famous burgers and amazing list of craft beer, you now have a second option to visit out in Del Sur. The restaurant is well-known in San Diego for its selection of craft beer, the classic American fare, and the fun, family friendly environment (Waypoint has been voted San Diego’s best family friendly restaurant). The craft beer-centric eatery, which first debuted in North Park back in 2013, earned popularity for its food and drink program combined with a welcoming family-minded atmosphere, and owner John Pani says his growth plans for Waypoint Public will focus on bringing the kid-friendly concept to other local neighborhoods. Del Sur’s location opened in April.

The restaurant in Del Sur is bright and open, and you immediately feel invited and welcome when walking through the doors. The new 3,500-square-foot restaurant houses hexagonal-shaped play cubbies, plenty of books and toys, and a dedicated kids menu. The design features a dining area with lounge seating, a full service bar with a walk in beer cooler, a children’s area, and an open kitchen. Waypoint Public is a restaurant where you can eat delicious food, have amazing drinks, relax with your best friends and safely watch your kids play.

While the kid friendly restaurant is certain to be a new favorite for the little ones, adults have reason to favor the restaurant as well. With 30 taps of craft beer, taps for wine and cold brew and a new cocktail program from bar manager Jhonny Ramos that features mule variations, beer cocktails and brunch sippers, Waypoint Public will be a favorite for the whole family. The design concept is simple and beautiful, and the food follows suit. Waypoint Public recently refreshed their menu by adding healthier options including vegan and gluten-free plates. We recommend the Creamy Vegan Primavera, if you want to test out a new dish. The primavera is made with linguine, squash, seared mushrooms, red bell, spinach, peas, and smoked tomato cashew creme. If a healthy vegan dish isn’t your first choice, you can always stick with a classic like the Waypoint Burger.

We hope you make some time to check out the new Waypoint digs. Cheers to a local restaurant’s expansion and success!
