Pure Burger: Where Healthy Eating Meets Hamburgers

By  |

The burger is an American classic that has stood the test of time. Most people can appreciate a piled-high, juicy burger with all the toppings, but Pure Burger takes the word “quality” to a whole new level. Ron Weinberg and David Powell, the founders of Pure Burger, had a passion for creating healthy food that tastes delicious, so they opened their own burger restaurant. Not a characteristic usually associated with burgers, they sought out to build a place where the two could be enjoyed.

Pure Burger takes pride in the quality of the meat and ingredients that are used in their burgers. 100% grass fed beef is used in all of their beef burgers. They even go a step further, and only use locally sourced meats from free-range farms. There are no fillers, antibiotics, or growth hormones added to the beef, and is completely sourced from respected and responsibly raised cattle. In addition, the meat is never frozen, and ground fresh every morning at the restaurant. Pure Burger also offers bison burgers, which has 40% more protein than beef, while cutting down on the calories, allowing for an even healthier burger eating experience. If you’re not a fan of red meat, then try their chicken burger, raised from an ancient Japanese chicken breed called “Jidori”.

Once you choose the meat you want on your burger, you can build your own burger with a wide range of toppings. Want a bison burger with grilled onion, pickle, and tomato? You got it. I spoke to Carlsbad local Miranda DeMartino, and she said her favorite burger combo is a beef burger on a white bun, with fresh jalapeño, bacon, and avocado. Pure Burger also has pineapple, grilled mushrooms, sprouts, and the classic toppings usually on burgers.

Everyone knows a burger isn’t complete without a side of crispy fries. Pure Burger offers gluten-free, fresh-cut fries that are fried with non-GMO rice bran oil. This makes for a much healthier version of fries, with no trans/saturated fats and a higher amount of healthy vitamins. If you’re thinking that this delectable meal could use something to wash it all down with, then you might want to try out their homemade shakes, made with hand-scooped Tillamook ice cream and topped with fresh fruit. A you could also try out one of their classic root beer floats, made with Wild Bill’s Rocky Mountain root beer. Pure Burger also has a solid variety of local craft beers to choose from.

If you decide to pay a visit to Pure Burger, be sure to know the weekly deals they have. Every day, happy hour is from 2-5 pm and 8 pm to close. Enjoy an ice cold craft beer for a reduced price to accompany your burger and fries. Tuesday’s, you can upgrade your fries to loaded fries, which are smothered with special sauce, cheese, and grilled onions, for free! Thursday’s you can treat yourself to free avocado on your burger. Finally, Sunday’s are buy one get one milkshakes, which could make for a pretty good deal on date night.
