Encinitas’ Union Kitchen + Tap: The Perfect Valentine’s Dinner Date

By  |

Union Kitchen & Tap draws the Encinitas crowd to its modern yet rustic eatery in droves. With cuisine made from scratch, craft beers, signature cocktails, and an unrivaled stylish and comfortable ambiance, it’s no surprise that Union Kitchen & Tap is the seaside town’s best hot spot.

Union Kitchen & Tap consists of three separate dining areas, all of which share a propensity for reclaimed wood accents and modern furnishings. For folks who are strolling by the warehouse-door style windows that open onto the streets, the main dining room and bar invite all who pass to step into its inviting interior and tantalizing scents. Upon entering, the Oak Room beckons to the right, a quiet intimate room resembling the inside of an oak tree and the Dart Room hides in a cozy nook of the southwest corner of the floor. Look for the flashing vintage arrow to point the way.

On Valentine’s Day, Union Kitchen + Tap in Encinitas is offering a four-course pre-fixe menu at $100.00 per couple. For the first course, couples will get their own dish of the creamy Crab Bisque to start the meal, served in a smoked sea salt puff pastry, and topped with a brandied saffron cream.

Couples get to choose an appetizer to share for the second course. The menu includes three second-course dishes such as the Oysters Rockefeller served with absinthe creamed spinach, bacon, and topped with foie gras hollandaise, the Knotted Quail served with black eyed peas and blue cornbread crumbles, or the Composed Vegetable Salad mixed with sous vide baby carrots, marinated patty pan squash, arugua, sorrel pesto, goat cheese mousse, and chive blossoms.

The third course is the entrees and couples get to choose from a variety of tasty dishes. They can choose from the Branzino, a European seabass served with potato spuma, orzo risotto, olive tapenade and macadamia crumbs or the Hibiscus Cured Short Ribs served with a creamy pepper jack semolina, leek puree and Thumbelina carrots. Or, they can choose the Farro-Stuffed Acorn Squash, served with whipped goat cheese, a blood orange, shaved fennel and watercress, and a citrus vinaigrette.

To end the romantic dinner, Union is offering two different dessert dishes as the fourth course for couples to share. Couples can choose between the Godiva Chocolate Dome, a rich chocolate cake with raspberry coulis and vanilla ice cream, or the Strawberry Cheesecake made on a buttered graham cracker crust with a chocolate dusting and topped with a micro mint.
