Say Hello To “Bye Bye Birdie”

By  |

byebyebirdie30The Carlsbad Community Theatre says hello to Bye Bye Birdie, playing July 31 to Aug. 9. This Tony Award Winning Best Musical features local North County actors ages 10 to adult.

In a world of soda fountains, Elvis and The Ed Sullivan Show, the events in Bye Bye Birdie turn a small town upside down when superstar Conrad Birdie arrives in Sweet Apple, Ohio, to give “one last kiss” before his induction into the U.S. Army. With favorites from the original Broadway show, including “The Telephone Hour,” “Put On A Happy Face,” “A Lot Of Livin To Do,” “Shriner’s Ballet,” “Kids” and “Rosie,” this beloved American musical sends up 1950s culture and reminds every parent that they will never understand their teenage children.

Bye Bye Birdie is directed/choreographed by Renee Kollar-Bachman, with musical direction by Leigh Sutherlin.
