Playhouse Hosts Taste Of Summer With BD Wong & Others!

La Jolla Playhouse presents Wolfgang Puck’s Taste of Summer on July 27, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Jai Restaurant and La Jolla Playhouse’s Mandell Weiss Forum courtyard. Guests will enjoy an evening of award-winning cuisine from five leading Wolfgang Puck restaurants: Jai, Spago, Postrio, Cut and Chinois.

Celebrity guests BD Wong (M. Butterfly, Law & Order: SVU), starring in the Playhouse’s upcoming production of Herringbone (Aug. 1-30), Artistic Director Christopher Ashley and others will also be in attendance at the chef’s table, where Jai’s renowned Chef Yoshi will preside.

“This is a fabulous event to celebrate summer with exquisite cuisine, all while raising money to support La Jolla Playhouse’s New Play Development and Education & Outreach programs,” stated Playhouse Managing Director Michael S. Rosenberg. “We are thrilled to partner with our on-site restaurant, Jai, for a delightful evening of food, friends and theatre.”

Each restaurant will feature their cuisine at stations that will serve a mini meal, including an appetizer and a main course. Trays of mini-desserts and cocktails will also be available throughout the evening. Additional desserts will be provided by the gourmet cookie company 410 Degrees. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 7 p.m. and stations open at 8 p.m., followed by entertainment at 9 p.m.

Prices range from $175-$500. The $500 package entitles guests to dinner at the chef’s table with celebrity guest BD Wong and Christopher Ashley, while enjoying fine wines, champagne, and a special dessert prepared by Chef Yoshi (limited availability). In addition, guests can refine their culinary skills at an exclusive cooking class with Chef Yoshi on Sept. 22 with the opportunity to dine on their creations in Jai’s private dining room. Tickets for the class are $700 (limited to 20 participants).
