Hal Holbrook Brings Mark Twain to Life Once Again

mtwainThe California Center for the Arts welcomes back Hollywood veteran and acclaimed actor Hal Holbrook as he celebrates the 55th year of his Tony Award winning Mark Twain Tonight, performing Nov. 21 at 8 p.m.

This one-man show is always fresh with more than 14 hours of material gleaned from Mark Twain’s writings and reveals Holbrook’s rare ability to portray both the wit and witticism of this country’s finest author. The actor adds to his Twain material every year, adapting it to the times.

Holbrook has appeared in nearly 40 films. His most recent won him an Academy Award nomination for his role in Into the Wild. Throughout his career, Holbrook has performed Mark Twin Tonight in some part of every year since 1954, with more than 2,000 performances. Holbrook won a Tony Award for the performance in 1966.
