Theaters have released two new films this week. To help decide which one to see this weekend, or see both, we provided descriptions of the films. With summer arriving soon, movies are the perfect choice for fun away from the scorching heat.

After EarthAfter Earth

Almost a millennium has passed since humanity escaped the ravages of Earth and the planet’s now hostile environment. In After Earth, mankind now lives in their new home, Nova Prime, and Earth’s dangers have increased over the years. After finishing his extended tour of duty, legendary General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) returns home to his family. As he finds himself in the position from military leader to father, the General faces the challenge of reconnecting with his teenage son, Kitai (Jaden Smith). Kitai dreams of becoming a great soldier and making his father proud, but he struggles to prove himself under the shadow of his father. When the two set out on a father-son trip in space, their craft encounters an asteroid storm. The damaged craft crash lands into Earth and leaves Kitai’s father critically injured. To save his father and return the two of them home, Kitai needs to find their lost rescue beacon somewhere in Earth’s dark and forbidding land. The son now has the opportunity to prove himself, but will he succeed?

Now You See MeNow You See Me

Ready for a film full of illusion and mystery? In Now You See Me, the film centers around a group of illusionists, “The Four Horsemen.” The team consists of some of the greatest magicians the world has ever seen; con-man and mentalist Merrit McKinney (Woody Harrelson), the beautiful and risk-taking Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher), spoon-bending magician Jack Wilder (Dave Franco), and the smart card pro Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg).  However, unlike most illusionists, “The Four Horsemen” become famous through their ability to pull of multiple bank heists and give the money to their audiences. Now, FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) and Interpol agent Alma Dray (Melanie Laurent) find themselves in a cat-in-mouse game against the illusionists as they try to find a way to stop them. With no experience with the power of illusion, the agents seek the help of former magician Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) to reveal reality. The film promises to be full of twists and surprises as the two groups struggle to be ahead of the other. Who succeeds and who fails is up to the audience to decide.
