In a desperate and twisted attempt to decrease crime and prison cells, the United States government creates an annual “criminal free” holiday. Annually, citizens are allowed a 12-hour period to commit all types of criminal activity they desire – including murder- and not face the legal consequences of those actions. However, this year the sanctioned day quickly turns into a nightmarish predatory-prey game as people start committing various atrocities. Those who are helpless have to endure without aid from hospitals and the police. The Purge centers on a man, James Sandin (Ethan Hawke), and his family as they face the ultimate struggle when an intruder breaks into their home and brings violence. James and his wife Mary (Lena Headey), along with their two children, find themselves forced to take desperate measures to live, while fighting to maintain their humanity. Will they survive? At what cost?

It’s the moment every comic book and film fan has been eagerly waiting for. The newest reboot of Superman arrives in theaters this Friday. With film giants Christopher Nolan (director of the Dark Knight series) and Zachary Snyder (director of 300 and Sucker Punch) involved, Man of Steel shows strong promise. Their planet on the brink of destruction, Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Lara Lor-Van (Ayete Zurer), place their only child, Kal-El, in an escape pod. Desperate to save him, Jor-El sends his son to the planet Earth, knowing his son will always be different from the humans. As its sun engulfs the planet Krypton, the pod flies out towards its destination, landing on a small farm owned by Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) and Martha Kent (Diane Lane). After adopting the young child and renaming him Clark Kent, the couple soon learn of Clark’s unique talents. Realizing their child could be discovered and taken away, Jonathan teaches Clark the dangers he would face if he revealed his true nature. Years later, Clark (Henry Cavill) travels to find his past and self. Clark even begins his career as a journalist to blend in with the humans and finds connection with fellow Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and his editor-in-chiefs Perry White (Lawrence Fishburne). However, Clark will have to have his secret heritage come out of the shadows when Kryptonian survivors terrorize his city.
