This Friday will be the first official day of summer. To celebrate, two new exciting films will arrive in theaters, Monsters University and World War Z. In order to help the movie goers decide between the two, we list a description of each film. Both films will be available in regular and 3D format in select theaters.

Monsters UniversityMonsters University

Many of us remember the beloved Disney/Pixar film Monsters, Inc. about two monsters, Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. Sullivan (John Goodman), who find themselves rescuing and caring for a little girl named Boo. The pair has always shown to be the best of friends, no matter what shape of monster they are. However, ever wondered how this inseparable bond of friendship was formed? Monsters University reveals the characters’ pasts as they attend school to learn the techniques of scaring. As soon as they met, the two young monsters hated each other. Each desiring to becoming a big Scarer, the two’s rivalry escalated out of control, leading to their exile from the University’s elite Scare Program. To fix things, the monsters form a bond and join other misfits to fulfill their dreams of scaring little children. Will they succeed and graduate?

World War ZWorld War Z

What if one day you woke up and suddenly the world you knew came crashing down on you? In World War Z, Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), an ex-United Nations employee, and his family were stuck in traffic on a family outing when the streets turned into chaos. Lane discovers humanity is on the brink of extinction due to a virus that transforms people into zombies. The Zombie pandemic consumed the majority of the world population. In order to stop the tide of madness and destruction, Lane must join with his former United Nations colleagues to find the source of the virus in the hopes of finding a cure. A brilliant adaptation of Max Brooks’s 2006 novel, World War Z, the film will keep the audience in suspense as Lane struggles to save his family, and of course humanity.
