Captain’s Log Stardate — 26.7.09

Comic-Con 2009 was an anniversary year. Not only was it the 40th convention but it sold out in record time.

I arrived to the preview night on Wednesday and waited behind about 400 odorous bloggers to get my press pass. To kill time, I tried to imagine the thought process of some of these guys. I pictured them standing in front of the shower, biting their nails, debating whether or not to get wet. Just because you’re sitting inactive in front of a computer for hours, it doesn’t excuse you from the bonds of proper hygiene. But I digress …

125,000 out-of-work superheroes, gamers, D&D wizards, and Twilight tweens all gathered in the same place to geek out with each other. It was a bit overwhelming. I was swimming in a sea of virginity and homemade costumes.

I had considered going back the next day as Froto Baggins but decided that it lacked the professionalism of a man of my stature. I decided just to wear the hobbit ears under my hair … When in Rome, right?

I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m bashing the unwashed and abstinent. To each his own.

All-in-all, it was a great time. Here are two videos highlighting our journey into “the Force.”
