Circus Vargas is Dazzling San Diego
Last month you probably noticed the enormous circus tent near the 5 North entrance close to Sea World, and asked yourself ‘what is going on over there?’ Excitedly, a CIRCUS is in town! The 2017 rendition of Circus Vargas is a magical world for attendees of all ages. Steampunk dazzles the stage, making the world of science-fiction a dream come true. Voted by SanDiego.com as the best circus in San Diego, you won’t want to miss this show while it’s in town.
The 11-day Mission Bay tour has come to an end, but you can still catch the show in Encinitas from March 2-13th. General Admission tickets start at $27, and all kids under 2 are free. Make an unforgettable family memory by encouraging imagination and introducing the fascinating world of Steampunk. Enjoy a free interactive pre-show, with an opportunity to meet and mingle with the cast just 30 minutes before the show. Kids can also learn how to participate in the magic themselves, with juggling lessons and other tips from the pros.
Circus Vargas began in 1969, when founder Clifford Vargas fulfilled his childhood dream of raising a tent and immersed into the magical world of cirque-entertainment. He didn’t want the art of the circus to be lost, and was dedicated to bringing the fantastical show to audiences for generations to come. When he unexpectedly passed away in 1989, the show was passed on to his longtime friends and management executives, Roland Kaiser and Joseph Muscarello. In 2003, the show changed hands again, and is currently being operated by Nelson and Katya Quiroga, a duo from a trapeze act that joined the show in the 80’s. The legacy of the circus continues, as new generations continue to be “wowed” by the lively atmosphere that’s created under the tent.
