Paris Hilton Arrested for Cocaine Possession
Paris Hilton took the third mugshot of her 29-year old life this past weekend when she was arrested on possession of cocaine in Las Vegas. The heiress was sitting in the passenger seat as her boyfriend, Cy Waits, drove when the duo was pulled over for a traffic stop. According to TMZ, the officer who stopped the vehicle pulled alongside the passenger door because he had smelled “the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.”
When a large crowd began to assemble and her boyfriend failed several field sobriety tests that the officer administered, Miss Hilton requested that they take the conversation to the Wynn Hotel so she could use the bathroom and escape the onlookers. However, rather than helping her case, Paris’ move proved to be a bad one: inside the hotel, the young celebutante began opening her purse, and as she did so, a small baggie containing a substance that looked to be cocaine dropped out. The purse also contained a “broken tablet of Albuterol,” a prescription drug used to control breathing problems, and a packet of Zig Zag wrappers, commonly used to smoke marijuana.
According to the police report, Hilton denied that the purse was hers, stating that she had borrowed it from a friend and that she hadn’t seen the baggie of cocaine before but now “thought it was gum.” She also stated that several cosmetics in the purse were not hers. The heiress did however, claim possession of the Albuterol, Zig Zag wrappers, credit cards, and $1,300 in cash.
Both Hilton and her boyfriend were arrested, and the young socialite was released with no bail after spending less than three hours handcuffed on a jailhouse bench—and after being charged with cocaine possession and being given an October 27th court date. If convicted, Hilton faces up to four years in prison.
