Entertainer Quickie: Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter breakup; Melissa Gilbert files for divorce from Bruce Boxleitner

Being in the limelight can put undue strain on Hollywood couples.  They may be able to afford that fairy tale wedding, but a ‘happily ever after-ending’ is never guaranteed.  Yet it never ceases to amaze when celebrity couples you thought would last, are calling it quits after some odd years.

Early last week, it was Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s separation rumors that went viral over the Internet.  Although the rumors have been brushed aside in a timely statement issued shortly after the breakthrough, the media is having another field day with more celebrity break ups arriving nearly in tandem to one other.

Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter, who after dating for three years, have broken up, Kelly’s rep confirms to PEOPLE.

Kelly, 31, is the star of the upcoming televised reboot of “Charlie’s Angels.  She was often seen at New York Yankees games cheering for Jeter, 37.  It was also reported that she was present in the stadium when he got his 3,000^th hit in July.

Melissa Gilbert files for divorce from Bruce Boxleitner

Melissa Gilbert has filed for divorce from Bruce Boxleitner.  The petition was filed Monday in L.A. and gave the date of the actors’ separation as January, the same month as their 15th anniversary.

The separation was cited from “irreconcilable differences,” with “Gilbert seeking spousal support and joint custody of their 15-year-old son, Michael Boxleitner,” reports LATimesblog.

Gilbert is known for her work on “Little House on the Prairie.”  And Boxleitner was last seen reprising his 1982 roles in the movie, “Tron” in December’s “Tron: Legacy.  He also starred with Kate Jackson on the “Scarecrow and Mrs. King” and appeared regularly on “Babylon 5.”
