Bachelor Finale Recap

By  |

Monday night ABC aired The Bachelor finale for this season where 38-year-old Brad Womack proposed to single mom Emily Maynard, 25, in South Africa.

During the follow-up show, After the Final Rose, Emily and Brad reunited on stage with Chris Harrison, Bachelor’s show host, after a month apart with a break-up in between, stating their love strong and being worked on.

Chantal O’Brien, the bachelorette who didn’t receive the last rose, returned to the after show asking Womack when he knew she wasn’t the one for him. Womack was careful with his words and congratulated O’Brien when she admitted to being very happy with Seattle businessman, Jeff Razore.

Three former Bachelor/Bachelorette couples (Molly and Jason, Trista and Ryan, Ali and Roberto) were up next giving advice to Womack and Maynard.

Ali Fedotowsky’s advice to the engaged couple was simple.  She explained how her fiancé, Roberto Martinez, tells her, “It’s just us, no one else”, speaking of closing out the media and negative press attention to keep the integrity of their relationship.

Maynard leaned over to Womack before the break and repeated those words, “It’s just us.”

In The Bachelor’s Blog, Womack wrote,People are going to ask, ‘What’s next?’ The short answer is: nothing (but everything). Emily and I are so excited to begin a very normal life with a very real relationship. No press, no media, no ‘exclusive’ stories. We are looking forward to movie nights, cups of coffee together, hanging out with her beautiful daughter at the park and anything else that so many couples do on a daily basis. We are looking forward to life beginning together.”

O’Brien told People.com, “I’m back into normal life, which I’m really happy with. I’m still living in the house you saw on the show; I’m working for my dad and just spending time with friends and family. Things are going really well.”

ABC has renewed The Bachelor another season and Ashley Hebert has been named the new Bachelorette which will air in May 2011.
