anchorman1Will Ferrell, as Ron Burgundy, returns to the San Diego T.V. news market in “Anchorman 2.” Seeking background players who might end up in a scene with a star, an open audition will be held at the Double Tree Hotel in Mission Valley from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

Anyone interested (and who wouldn’t be?) should go to the website centralcasting.com and click on ‘San Diego open call’ to obtain the I-9 information sheet. Valid ID and the filled-out I-9 form are required at the try-out.

San Diegans of every age group and look are being sought.  Male and female, SAG-AFTRA and non-union are eligible and encouraged to try out. Hardly any requirements exist. All hired background actors will be paid. The shooting of the film is set to start in San Diego this month (May 2013).anchorman2

Returning from 2004’s “Anchorman” are Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Christina Applegate, David Koechner, Vince Vaughn, and Fred Willard. New additions to the cast include Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, and Kristen Wiig as the lovely spouse of looney weatherman Brick.

Filming has already begun in Atlanta, which is sitting in for the New York City of the 1970’s. The actual plot of the sequel has been kept secret, but early reports have mentioned divorce, custody fights and bowling as possible topics. Also reported are cameo appearances in the movie from the likes of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Luke Wilson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Greg Kinnear, James Marsden, and Josh Lawson.

While Anchorman 2, officially entitled “Anchorman: The Legend Continues,” is the official sequel, there was a move called “Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie” released in 2004. This straight-to-DVD film was created from cut scenes and subplots filmed, but not included in the finished product
