Escape the heat at UltraStar Cinemas

By  |

ultrastar_logoAn advertisement is currently running at theaters around San Diego. A high intensity action scene begins to play and suddenly the screen begins to shrink and the sound fades until it is the size, and intensity of a 42 inch television in the center of the screen. The words that show up above it are, “Movies shouldn’t be reduced to this.” And how true it is, movies are made for the big screen; to awe you and capture your imagination and soul and translate it all in a larger than life immersive way.

At UltraStar Cinemas, they let it be know that they agree wholeheartedly, movies shouldn’t be reduced to that, and no one should have to miss them. Month after month the theater company brings in innovative new ways for audiences to come and see all the movies they would hate to miss. They jump all of the hoops to get you there so that you just have to come in and enjoy. It really is a demonstration of the management considering their audience as themselves, and knowing that sometimes, life happens. The company has been going strong since 1999 when John Ellison Jr. and Alan Grossberg became pioneers in the industry and sought to provide the “best movie-going experience to every guest that walks through the doors”. Now nearly 13 years later the company still strives to do just that.

They are cutting edge.

dbox_thumbThey were the first company in the world to be set up with the innovative D-Box Technologies that motion integrate the audience’s seats with the actions in the film. This allows for the audience to even further immerse themselves into the movie. D-Box has now spread across the United States but UltraStar did it first, and they still bring it to you reasonably priced at their Mission Valley theater.

They care about families.

UltraStar has pioneered the Parent Movie Morning and Baby’s Night Out at some of their locations. Every week the UltraStar features a popular picture and welcomes parents with newborns. In these showings the lights are not completly off and the volume is reduced allowing parents to also be attentive to their babies. Plus, if it wasn’t an amazing deal to begin, there are changing tables set up in the back of the auditorium so parents don’t have to miss any of the movie, even when duty calls.

They are looking out for the kids.

kidtoons_crayonNot only does UltraStar feature their movie ratinings in bold red so you know exactly what you are getting into, they feature the incredibly popular KidsToons Program. These cartoons are accessible to young minds and is a very affordable way to entertain them, and they always feature a fun little give away at the end, such as stickers or coloring pages.

They help keep costs down.

UltraStar Cinemas is one of the only theaters in San Diego that has “Play it again” movies that have gone out of theaters, for a reduced price. Not only are the movies only $4.00, the popcorn deals are all you can eat, all day and you can get popcorn and a drink for around $5.00. It allows you to catch movies you have missed and
