Actually Skateworld is the last remaning true roller rink. Ups and downs is no longer running and national city does roller hockey, they are no longer doing sessions. just saying

Also, if you want to learn how to skate, the Derby Dolls don’t charge you for equipment rental… saves you $10 each practice.

Hot off of winning the 2009 National Championship for banked track roller derby in Austin, TX, the San Diego Derby Dolls are the dominant league in the country, let alone San Diego.

Derby Dolls have their ’bouts’ at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and are hosting the 2010 National Championship there. (www.derbydolls.com)

FACT CHECK! There’s actually THREE roller derby leagues in town. The first was San Diego Derby Dolls, which has been around since 2005 (www.derbydolls.com), then came the Renegade Rollergirls San Diego (www.myspace.com/rrgsd), and then the Starlettes / Roller Derby San Diego started up. I think there may be a league trying to start up at the rink up in Escondido.

Oh yeah … there’s a few more rinks in the county too. There’s Skate San Diego in National City (www.skatesandiego.net) and Ups-N-Downs in Escondido (760-745-5966)

Seriously, at least google your facts before you publish an article.
