If you haven’t made your way to the San Diego County Fair yet, then mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 3rd to eat some fried food and watch a live performance from Hasidic reggae-rock star Matisyahu.
Matisyahu is known for his popular hits, “One Day,” “Youth,” and many more, but it was his groundbreaking single, “King Without A Crown” that put him on the map. Three albums later Matisyahu is ready to release his fourth album Spark Seeker set for release on his own label, Fallen Sparks Records via Thirty Tigers/RED, on July 17th, 2012.
He recorded the 13-track album in Los Angeles, New York and Israel creating an expansive cast of collaborators from around the world. Spark Seeker mixes traditional and futuristic beats along with a combination of rapping and singing. Throughout the album you can hear Matisyahu embodying the album’s title, “This is definitely pushing the boundaries of what I’ve done before,” Matisyahu said. You can listen to Matisyahu perform one of Spark Seeker’s newly released single, “Sunshine” at the fair tomorrow.
Matisyahu will perform in the Toyota Summer Concert Series on the Heineken Grandstand Stage. The 7:30 p.m. show is free for unreserved seats, so you if you want to get as close as possible to the stage then buy tickets today through Ticketmaster, or the day of the concert at the Concert Ticket Booths at the O’Brien Gate or near Plaza de México.
