Weekend events in San Diego: Comedians take over the city and the Padres face the Reds

Celebrate the start of the fall season with some fun and fantastic events happening all over San Diego County this weekend.

Thursday, September 23

Fine dine at some of the finest restaurants as the biannual San Diego Restaurant Week continues. Until tomorrow, September 24th, 2010, over 180 of the region’s best restaurants are offering special multi course pre-fixe menus for $20, $30, and $40 allowing patrons to try some of their wonderful culinary creations.

After enjoying a delicious meal, head down to the Gaslamp District to check out Michael Franti & Spearhead with Tamarama as they bring some funk and soul to the House of Blues stage.

Friday, September 24

Support the local San Diego Padres as they head off against the Cincinnati Reds at 7pm in Petco Park. Be sure to get there early and experience the San Diego Padres Oktoberfest happening from 5pm-7pm before the game. Try out some of the best brews in town and enjoy live music entertainment! Admission to the event is included with a ticket to the game.

More downtown fun can be had at 4th & B as Berlin featuring Terri Nunn rocks the city’s nightlife or head out to the House of Blues to see The Dan Band perform. If you’re in the College Area, San Diego State will host the Gym Class Heroes for more back to school fun for students and guests at their Open Air Theatre.

Enjoy a good laugh at Humphrey’s By the Bay as comedian Margaret Cho visits San Diego for loads of laughter and good times as part of her Cho Dependent Tour.

Saturday, September 25

Start the morning off with a good deed and help clean up San Diego! Clean and Green Coastal Clean Up will be at the Mission Valley Preserve on this fine autumn morning with volunteers to help keep the city beautiful.

Get ready to cheer on the San Diego State Aztecs against the Utah State Aggies in a football game at Qualcomm Stadium this afternoon.

Finally, end your night with more laughs Aziz Ansari and Cedric the Entertainer humor San Diegans all around. Aziz can be seen on the House of Blues stage at 10pm while Cedric will head up Pala’s Starlight Theater at 8pm.

Sunday, September 26

Though it’s only the start of the fall season, the San Diego Symphony begins their Winter Pops Concert Series with a special presentation from the Philippine National Dance Company (Bayanihan). Immerse yourself in culture and art as this nationally acclaimed group makes its San Diego Symphony stage debut at 2pm.

Finish the weekend off by checking out more of San Diego’s great music venues to see the Pixies as UCSD’s Rimac Arena and country legend Willie Nelson at Harrah’s Rincon.
