Tour de Fat is returning to San Diego!

Tour de Fat is marking its 17th season of traveling to 9 cities across the United States to bring everyone whacky outfits, beer, delicious food, and did we mention beer?

This day-long event in Golden Hill Park arrives on September 24th and begins at 10 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m.  While the festival itself is free, all the proceeds from beer and food sales go to local nonprofit organizations.

Last year alone, Tour de Fat raised more than $600,000 and a total of $4 million throughout the 17 seasons. Brought to you by New Belgium Brewing Company, Tour de Fat originated in Fort Collins, Colorado to increase awareness of cycling as a sustainable form of transportation.

Attendees are able to dress up in their craziest outfit, grab their bikes and join in on a costumed bike parade that winds through the streets of San Diego.

The festival will feature free goodies, talented bands, and bikes, bikes and more bikes. The festival will also include bike contests, brewing education and a “Bicycle Revival” to inspire San Diegan’s to take advantage of their two wheel transportation.

The company has lined up a schedule for the day which you can find here. There will be fashion showdowns, bike game shows, yo-yo performances, and of course bands lined up throughout the day.

The event also encourages goers to donate a 5-10 dollar registration fee, which not only gets you some merchandise, but all proceeds will be donated to deserving non-profit organizations.
