San Diego RAW: “INCITE” Showcase This Thursday at the Ivy

Join the Entertainer in support of local artists at RAW: San Diego Presents INCITE.  This monthly event takes place at the Ivy Nightclub at Andaz San Diego in downtown.  RAW spotlights an eclectic group of talented young artists who draw inspiration from the dynamic cultural hybrid that is San Diego.  There will be a variety of mediums showcased at this monthly event, ranging from photography, makeup artistry, visual art, film, fashion and music.

You can expect a multi-faceted artistic showcase that is sure to please and stimulate all the senses. Featured artist Vanessa Christie has a wide definition of her art, “I mostly work in oil on canvas, as well as graphite, charcoal, and ink.” She explains, “I am influenced by music, poetry, and the natural world.”

Makeup artist Linda Danon was born and raised in Mexico City, but currently calls San Diego her home.  Why does she embrace make up as her artistic medium? “My favorite part about it is the fact that my ‘canvas’ is the human face, which is as real as it can get. I love that I can let go and do whatever comes to my mind without rules.”

Be ready to move beyond typical art show music that merely regales, The Filthy Violets will infiltrate you with a welcoming eclectic vibe.  A rock band influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and the Black Keys, “These San Diego residents met in October 2010 and have been gifted with an unmatched synergy in such a short amount of time. Jesse, Jeremy, Cesar and Tim comprise this team, and although they are a new band in a hungry industry, they have big plans to get their music heard.” Be there to listen to this up-and-coming talent.
